Love is in Bloom!

~~~~LOTS OF PHOTOS...BEWARE!~~~~
Back in February, a few us starting planning our dear friend's bridal shower. We decided we wanted to keep everything under wraps so we kept a secret blog detailing all the neat ideas we came up with. Little by little our theme came alive and this is the end result!
On the way into the clubhouse, we scattered lots of daisies. It smelled sooo good!
To go with the theme, the favors we choose were little pots filled with seeds. We wrapped them up and wrote directions on the back of the sign:
Our centerpieces were all bright colored roses with grass, giving the illusion of them growing! I think they turned out darling! We used pedals and scattered them from on side of the table to the other, like it was a table runner!
Me and BM Patty
We made two other centerpieces for other tables when the guests walk in.
One of the neat things we did was ask all our guests to give some advice to the bride written on a pedal. When they arrived, we placed them in a scrapbook we made for her:
Her cake was lemon cake with white chocolate frosting. It was yummy!
BM K did an amazing job with the bride's rehearsal bouquet!
For the bride, one of the presents we gave her was a towel cake and a just married ornament:
Last but not least, a photo of most of her beautiful BMs and the guest of honor in the center!
Everything turned out great and to see our bride so happy was worth all the hard work! Photos provided by myself and BM Kimmy!
Just rosy!!!
I had such a great weekend but I'm soo exhausted that I can't even type at the moment. From graduation, driving hours upon hours getting here and there, bridal shower, and two birthday parties, I'm a little shocked I was even able to stay awake to watch the Laker game! I have lots of photos to share with you from my best friend's shower but all of that will have to wait until I get a good night's sleep. (Little Miss Planner needs at least 8 hours of sleep every day to function and am lucky to get that for the last nights TOTAL!)
For now, Here is just a glimpse of a "few" flowers we picked up at the flower district for the shower!
on a side note, I'm sorry I haven't been the best little blogger, work has been taking up a ton of time and I'm trying to figure out how to change that! ;)
Sometimes beauty is ONLY skin deep...
For the shower I went to a month ago, I decided I wanted to do something really special since I've been with the bride through the beginning of her relationship with her FI. Every photo, every moment, she shared with me and really helped our friendship grow in the process. So for her shower, I let my hubby pick out the present (YEA, a ice bucket! oh joy!) and knew I had to do something special to make it more personal.
I took all the photos of the happy couple (first date, ski trips, the moment they got engaged, their engagement photos and parties, our wedding and engagement party, trips, etc) and placed them in in a word document. I took the document to Kinkos and they blew it up to a 16x20 for me to use as wrapping paper. I then took some pretty pink ribbon and come colorful silk flowers and placed them on top (so she had something more than just ribbon for her rehearsal bouquet). The end result was the packaging was far superior to the present inside. The end result made the bride cry because for the first time, she saw their relationship from past to present all together and was soo overwhelmed with joy! By the time it was open up presents, she decided to take this home and show her FI and loved it. Today, the wrapping paper is in a frame at their house! :)
And a better view of the paper:
--the Background words says: Bride's Name loves Groom's Name loves Bride's name, over and over. Also, yes you can see the actual proposal in the sand... and yes, the Groom did mispell MARRY. Oh well, he can blame nerves for that one! ;)
The best of the best showers...
As much as I love weddings, I totally adore showers more. I love spending an afternoon being all girly (which I hardly do) and doing girly things. Over the years, while I've been to a ton of weddings, but I've only been to a handful of showers. Here are the takebacks from all the weddings:
  • Flowers Flowers Flowers really make the event. I'm not saying go out and spend a ton of dough, but do go out and get some for tables where food will be placed or any area guests will be around. The aroma is always pleasing and it really brightens up any room!
  • Good food is a must!!! As for quantity, get lots! I know people always say ladies eat less but quite frankly, if there isn't a guy around, we'll eat normally!
  • One word: CAKE! You can have whatever type of dessert you want, as long as you have cake too! It's edible art!!!
  • Games!!! If you've been to one shower, you've been to them all! Make sure you have at least one game that is lively and gets your crowd mingling!
  • Favors! Yes, it is highly suggested to give some type of favor out. It doesn't have to be an expensive favor, but something that you can take home, show off, eat later, etc etc etc.
  • Spend time on the details! Use a color or a theme throughout! It makes such the difference
  • These are the things I've realized and enjoyed seeing in all the showers I've been too. OHHH, one thing that reallly was cool about the one from last weekend was the MOH hired a psychic for the guests. Everyone went up for 10-15 minutes and she gave her thoughts on us. At first I wasn't going to go, didn't really want to know what my future held, and later I caved in. OH BOY was she good at it! At the beginning she called me a planner in life... I about died!!!! It's as if she's known me for years!!!
    What are your favorite things about showers?
    My shower...photography...
    There are soo many great things about my shower that I loved! One of the best ideas we had was hire an amazing photographer capture the event so people didn't have to worry about taking photos! Here are some of my favorite shots:
    The photographer's name is Mark Ayoub and he owns iTakeMemories.com. He did a wonderful job staying out of the way and observed with his camera. He also go some great shots of just me and also the everyone who attended! I love his work and if I could have two photographers at my wedding I would!
    P.S. I added the stamp of the website on the photos so if you link, please give credit where credit is due. Thanks!!!
    Tasty Delights...
    Okay, so I admit it, I really pushed for a theme for a shower but I gave my BMs free rein to do what they wanted... except for one thing: the cake. I really wanted the Champagne Cake from a bakery near my house called Plusko's! They did an adorable job decorating it with the colors of the shower quite nicely!
    And here is me... pigging out on cake! BOY was it good!
    Photos courtesy of BM Kimmy! :)
    Just thinking about that cake is making my mouth water! Everyone loved it and am counting down days until I get to have more of that same cake! :)
    ....still... more to come...
    Thank you's part Duex
    I know... I'm dancing around posting about my shower! Don't worry, I'm still working on those posts!
    But let's talk about the most hated part of the planning (but also one of my favorites!) The thank you card. Earlier I blogged about super cute custom thank you cards from Vista Print! They turned out great and matched with the whole pink/black theme going on!
    Only two days after the shower, I'm about halfway done with them. I know, I'm a slacker! :P But It was very fun bringing the whole theme together from start to end! While I really wanted to stamp my heart out, I realized this was the best route to go! Did you make you're own thank you cards for your shower or use pre-made ones?
    Blooms Galore
    A shower isn't complete unless it has flowers! On Saturday morning, the day before my shower, two of my BMs and I trekked down to LA Flower district for some decorations. After 30 minutes of walking through thousands of blooms, we brought home roses and stargazers and filler.
    All the flowers created four different centerpieces that everyone just loved. We even had a few people ask who our florist was so they could use them in the future! :)
    See that beautiful table runner? One of my talented BM's created it! She's sooo creative!!!
    ...more to come!
    "What am I gonna wear?"
    I say this every night before I go to bed and trying to figure out what to drape myself in for the next day. Sometimes I care more often than other days. But like every other lady who is about to get married, she thinks about what to wear for all her special events.
    Now that I hear my bridal party theme is all set: Black/White and Pink, I realized the dress I had gotten wasn't in the scheme and well, I can't just can't wear a brown dress to a Black/White and Pink themed bash! I do have a perfect dress (black dress with pink polka dots) to wear but I've worn it before and well, I'm evoking the excuse "I just need a new dress!" quote because I can!
    In my first search through the world wide web, I cam across these:
    Anne Taylor
    Black Market White House
    Forever 21
    I think I might be leaning towards the white skirt pair it with a black tank and white cardigan... I don't know. I also have a really nice pair of white Capri's lined in black at the seams that I wore twice in my life. I could pair that with a black shirt. Which one is your favorite? What do you think?
