Ever think that fortune cookie is talking to you?

I have this uncanny way of always picking up a fortune cookie that rings true. Even more so when I'm reading my horoscope. It's a bit scary actually!

Like today's clipped from my iGoogle home page ala tarot.com:

Although you may feel quite contained today, you won't be able to restrain yourself from also revealing your underlying optimism. It's not even about consciously applying the power of positive thought. It's just that your greatest strength now is your ability to scope out the big picture and intuitively know how best to organize all the pieces in order to achieve the desired results. Set your intentions and then slowly work toward making your dreams come true.

Umm.... ~~looking around the room~~ how did you know Mr Tarot.com? In my daily email with my pen pal (long story short, I have a pen pal I've never met who lives 1000's miles away. We talk daily, hubby even asks how my pen pal is doing) I couldn't help but write paragraphs upon paragraphs of optimism. To the point if a teenage me saw this, she probably toss her cookies. When I was typing away, I felt this wave of warm fuzzies that was just seeping out of my pores.

I know, the horoscope sounds kinda bland and unoriginal, but today, the horoscope said what I needed to hear. More and more am I falling in love with this year. I know, it's only been 23 days, it's still be better than last year. I've stayed busy a bee, breaking out of my shell I made the second half of the year. I'm feeling like I'm living again, with all my heart and my soul.

So back to the question at hand, do fortune cookies or horoscopes talk to you?

Happy Friday everyone!

Buying something without needing it...

I bought something today that I've been eying for months and finally went on sale. I don't need it and will probably use it one day, just not right now. I feel a little guilty for the splurge but then again, I keep rationalizing that I will one day use it.

Ever buy something that you don't need?

Another party...

Alas the hubby has decided to throw a Superbowl Party. I'm excited because once again I get to plan it all. Problem is, he wants to order pizza as the main course so I have to work around that.

Appetizers:
Hot wings
Potato Skins
veggie tray
chips and dip

Main:
Multiple selection of Pizza from somewhere

Desserts:
Cookies (in the shape of footballs perhaps?)
Cupcakes (who can turn down a chocolate cupcake?)
brownies (my friend is making them)

Is that good? How can I plan a guy's party without making it too "much"? Hmmm... Only two weeks to plan this and still no idea what to do for decorations.

Only in SoCal...

Can you go for a run in shorts and smell your neighbors BBQing...

Now, are you shocked the weather is so nice today (got to low 80's) or that I went for a run?

I'd pick the latter!

Hope y'all had a great weekend!

Late to the party

Dear Spaghetti Squash,

I'm sorry I'm so tardy to the dinner party. I was afraid you weren't cool enough for my palette. How WRONG was I?! You are all that and a bag of chips! But I'm here now and ready to get down! You are easy to make and need little spices to make you amazing! Don't worry, I won't be a stranger and will even visit your other cousin squash now!

Kind Regards,

Little miss Planner

Making my debut...

After all the hustle and bustle of the wedding is over, it's nice to look back and be thankful it's over. I only have two loose ends to tie up (pick up dress from cleaners and get album). Out of the blue I picked up a southern California wedding magazine (it was free and I was waiting for someone) and yours truly graced the pages! Talk about being surprised! Shocked and happy that a photo submitted by my photog made it in, and a little sad cause it wasn't one of my favorites. I think he likes that photo since he uses it on his site.

So, I just used up one minute of my 15 minutes of fame.

me wants...

I'm so bad, I feel like I'm already dropping hints for my bday next fall!

I need food containers to put some useful stuff like flour and sugar/splenda, noodles, etc.

I saw these today and think I might pick up a few and might just do the trick...

Now I have to figure out how many I really need!

Playing house

After a realization that the amount we eat out far exceeds the norm, I've been trying to change our habits and cook more. It's good because 1. I love to cook and am need to expand my mental recipe index and B. to try to cut down on costs.

So last weekend I made my little dinner menu for the week and got to work. While I could go into details of every meal I created, I would rather shout with glee about the things that made me happy. For instance, last Sunday I made tortillas (grew up with them) and for the first time I made a round tortilla. I've made them before but they ALWAYS turn out lopsided and or alien-like. This was a triumph! I called my mom to tell her the great news even! She laughed and said congrats, knowing this was a big step because everyone knows a round tortilla is a good tortilla!

Secondly, I made homemade chicken noodle soup. It was easier than I thought and tasted better than I expected. Easy too! And lastly, I made bread! Okay, it was from a box but I made it rise and baked it in our little toaster oven! (we have a good oven, but no need to waste gas).

I'm soo excited how great it feels to make something and it turns out great. I forgot these feelings since I became laxed in the kitchen. Yes, it still feels like I'm playing house, but I don't mind it!

how old am I?

Yesterday I was pushing a grocery cart around and had my little list of things to make for dinner and start wiping stuff off my To-Do list. I saw all these older ladies in there and felt as if I was the kid on home alone, shopping by himself. Sometimes I get that feeling, like I'm still just a kid, trying to play house.

Anyone else get that feeling?
