Baking out of my element...

So this week I decided to try something new and am going to try to make macarons! I was reading a while on Bakerella about how she learned to make them and it seems way too easy. It's such a beautiful little delight that I figured, what they hay, I can do this too...

Now according to the recipe I need to get the egg whites sitting out first so tonight I shall do this part. If all goes well, tomorrow I will be doing the rest and popping these bad boys into the oven and then into my tummy! This should be an interesting little project and am so happy to finally try to tackle it!

Has there ever been a recipe or a dish you were always afraid to make?

Lazy Saturday Morning

The past few weeks Bakerella has been making some amazing Cake Pops. I finally found the right occasion (Easter) to make some for my family.

She made some really cool ones but when it came time for us to decorate, the first one didn't turn out neat so we scratched the idea and decided that how we wrap them up would be suffice.

May I present to you our easter box gifts:

Aren't they cute? Oh, the hubby helped me! He did taste test the end result and his response: Tasty!!!

Little Miss Planner's Banana Nutella Ice Cream

After about a 30 minute conversation on Nutella over the weekend, I couldn't shake my craving. What did I do? Researched the web and made some ice cream!

I took this recipe and added my twist to it:

Little Miss Planner's Banana Nutella Ice Cream
2/3 can of evaporated milk (i used FF)
1/3 jar of Nutella or 3 heaping spoonfuls
2 banana's pureed

Throw everything in the mixer and mix on medium for about 5-10 minutes and place in fridge to cool down.

Once cold, toss mix into the ice cream mixer and churn for about 8 minutes.

End result:

What did the hubby think? MM MM Good! :)

OH, go here to win a case of Nutella!

OH YUM....

So, there i was, eating my chex cereal while reading Google Reader and I came upon this magnificent picture. This desire to throw a Cinco de Mayo BBQ came over me and then I came back to earth when I realized it falls on a Tuesday, not a good thing at all. But for our next bbq, I might just have to whip these little babies up!
Margarita Bites

I found this recipe on Let's Entertain. It's a great site that will give you endless ideas! She is now on my faves too!

2 cups boiling water
2 pkg. (3 oz. each) JELL-O Margarita Flavor Gelatin (or lime flavored)
1/2 cup tequila or cold water
Zest and juice from 1 lime
2 cups thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping

ADD boiling water to gelatin mixes in large bowl; stir with whisk 2 min. until completely dissolved. Stir in tequila and 2 Tbsp. lime juice. Add COOL WHIP and 1 tsp. lime zest; stir until COOL WHIP is completely melted and mixture is well blended.

POUR into 8-inch square pan.

REFRIGERATE 3 hours or until firm. Cut into 36 pieces to serve.

That's amore...

I can't wait to tell you about how good of a time and how beautiful that wedding we went to last weekend. Being around all my friends really had a good affect on me and I feel more like my old self than that lesser version I've been in the last month.

Onto the show....

Love is in Bloom!

~~~~LOTS OF PHOTOS...BEWARE!~~~~
Back in February, a few us starting planning our dear friend's bridal shower. We decided we wanted to keep everything under wraps so we kept a secret blog detailing all the neat ideas we came up with. Little by little our theme came alive and this is the end result!
On the way into the clubhouse, we scattered lots of daisies. It smelled sooo good!
To go with the theme, the favors we choose were little pots filled with seeds. We wrapped them up and wrote directions on the back of the sign:
Our centerpieces were all bright colored roses with grass, giving the illusion of them growing! I think they turned out darling! We used pedals and scattered them from on side of the table to the other, like it was a table runner!
We made two other centerpieces for other tables when the guests walk in.
One of the neat things we did was ask all our guests to give some advice to the bride written on a pedal. When they arrived, we placed them in a scrapbook we made for her:
Her cake was lemon cake with white chocolate frosting. It was yummy!
BM K did an amazing job with the bride's rehearsal bouquet!
For the bride, one of the presents we gave her was a towel cake and a just married ornament:
Last but not least, a photo of most of her beautiful BMs and the guest of honor in the center!
Everything turned out great and to see our bride so happy was worth all the hard work! Photos provided by myself and BM Kimmy!
Inspirations 23
If only I could jump through the screen I'd devour each and every one!
All of these cakes were designed by Maisie Fantaisie.
It's like the cherry on the top!
I'm a sucker for cake toppers. There were a few things that the hubby and I put our foot down on and the cake topper was one of them. We wanted something to show off our personalities and so we had these:
I figure if you are going to throw your signature onto this pile of flour, eggs and water, you might as well give it your little twist.
Here's a few others that I just love too:
I love the idea of using part of your theme instead of the cake toppers. Sometimes less is more...
What are you doing for your cake toppers?
Oopa!
Just barely getting up, I couldn't wait to post some photos from the wedding. Before I post everything I wanted to give you a glimpse of some little things. Everything last night was amazing. From the ceremony (I think I'm fluent in greek now!) to the reception to the bride and groom were absolutely stunning. The bride did a fantastic job making everything look elegant and grand without losing her roots, they had a greek dessert display that the bride's mom spend weeks making and let me tell you it was the BEST dessert spread I ever saw and tasted! So, without further ado, the sneak peak... and a photo of the hubby and me!
Can I say I loved my dress!!!
More definitely to come!!!
